With everything coming to life outside, I thought I would bring the ‘outside in’ by printing rose leaves onto a piece of woollen fabric. Rose leaves work really well on wool. I wrapped them tightly around a stick and simmered the bundle for about an hour in a dedicated pot.I love the layered impressions coming through from the other side. I am making a bag with this piece.
Yesterday, I was looking at repetition in nature. The fronds of this fern are symetrical and they are currently unfurling in my garden. I love printing with them, so I will be doing this once the fern can spare some fronds. Embroidering French knots is soothing and repetitive.
