With a chill in the air on a grey, overcast day, I huddled down for a day in my cosy studio. I have plenty of inspiration around me in the form of dried, pressed flowers and ferns, pine cones and the never-ending crochet project.
I decided to do some printing with my gel plate. This is a great way to create collage papers or book covers, but today I used some for a little concertina book.
I was particularly pleased with the blue fern print, and I added depth and interest with paper doilies. A touch of gold paint highlights the lovely natural shapes.
This is one of my favorite things to do. These little books can be posted as gifts, or maybe kept and displayed as a reminder of a day when the foliage was gathered.
It is important to devote time to just playing around. There doesn’t have to be a perfect painting as an end result and I throw nothing away. I’m sure these lovely papers will be used in future projects!
